In the summer we have a natural inclination to travel, exert, and even socialize more than other times. This can be really important to help us feel connected and build community. It can help us see different areas of our city, our state, our country, and even the world; which can really expand our worldview creating more understanding and compassion. All of that can come with a cost both literal and physiological. So we’ve gathered up our best tips so that you can be prepared to thrive!
Plan ahead: often we plan for the travel, the tickets, and the sites; but sometimes we forget to plan time to take care of ourselves and our needs along the way.

Leave some time each day or every few days that is unplanned. This will allow you to discover, be in the moment, and not stress about an overpacked itinerary.
Deep breathing! This one can really help with all the unknowns that we can encounter on adventures. Sometimes these experiences trigger anxiety or stress. Doing simple box breathing or alternate nostril breathing can help tell your body that it is safe and calm.
Prioritize as much rest time as you can. This one feels ultra important when you change time zones! Your body might still be on pacific time and that can make it difficult to get the rest you need. Consider melatonin, an eye mask, and earplugs to facilitate the best on the go sleep you can get.
