Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy uses awareness and breathing techniques to help relieve a variety of gynecological conditions. The techniques incorporate teachings and guidance from multiple perspectives, including from world renowned women’s health physical therapist and author, Tami Kent, who has developed and trademarked Holistic Pelvic Care™.
The intention of Pelvic Floor Therapy is to decrease pain and adhesions in the pelvic floor, by increasing circulation and allowing trigger points to relax, bringing balance to the pelvis. When the muscles and bones of the pelvic floor are aligned, women move more freely, without restrictions. Women often feel more relaxed and experience improved sensation and increased strength in the muscles of their pelvic floor.

During our initial session, we will discuss the issues you would like to address. I will ask you about your medical history and provide you with an introduction to your pelvic muscles and structures. Your pelvic muscles will then be evaluated intra-vaginally, assessing for trigger points and tension patterns. Your treatment will combine active and passive range of motion exercise, trigger point work and restorative breathwork, to increase balance and blood flow to the organs and muscles of the pelvic floor. Follow-up sessions will begin with a reassessment and then focus primarily on treatment.
The number of treatments suggested will depend upon the extent of your symptoms and how long you have been living with them. Five to seven sessions are generally recommended to restore basic pelvic floor balance.
